Even though these kids are always doing something crazy, this kind of smile is attached to it 24/7.  They have been influential in this journey by these big and bright beams of gold.

There are many, many challenges all the time. It's hard only being here for a short time and knowing right when you finally feel like you're making good progress you're leaving soon.  It's hard to know exactly what would work best in a situation, and which kid will get it and which kid needs a different approach.  It's hard when there's a language barrier mainly with the staff, and since I'm with the kids most of the time there is miscommunication.  It's challenges like these that I know my Father is holding my hand and leading me one step at a time.

There is never a day that I haven't learned something new, even something small.  It's hard for me to put this into words and for it to make sense, but truly understanding what it means to love the "unlovable" has been whirling around in my head.  I know it sounds harsh, yet a lot of these kids are full of anger, annoying antics, and frankly naughty in many ways,  Yet, that's what Jesus came onto this earth to do; to be with, to eat with, to befriend, and to passionately pursue the "unlovables."  Jesus came and loved everyone, not just people He preferred, but even more so, the freaky and alarming ones.  He came to show us what loving the "unlovable" can do.  Each person, whether great or small, is a loved child of the King, and when I look into these angry, disobedient, and trouble-filled eyes, I pray that I can see even a glimpse of what Jesus sees, because I know I too am undoubtedly broken.
